Saskatchewan’s education minister has announced a Students First initiative to guide ministry planning. Russ Mirasty, a retired RCMP commissioner, and Patricia Prowse, superintendent of Saskatoon Public, have been appointed to develop regional advisory groups consisting of a student, a parent, a teacher and an education sector representative.
The two Student First advisors will work with the groups to gather public input. The announcement did not explain how many advisory groups will be formed, or how the representatives will be selected. Details are to be released later, according to the minister. The name borrows from the ministry of health’s Patients First initiative. Read the announcement.
