There will be a rally in support of Cornwall Alternative School in Regina TODAY March 26 at 4:30 pm at the Legislative Building.
The School unexpectedly received a complete funding in the provincial budget, reneging on the government’s three-year funding commitment and catching the school community by complete surprise.
“The school offers an alternative student-centred education to students who are at-risk in the traditional educational setting,” states the school website. CAS has been operating for 45 years.
Without citing his source, Minister of Education Gordon Wyant said Cornwall’s students were failing to re-integrate into the mainstream system. There was no consultation with CAS teachers and students.
The school will need to find about $700,000 to continue operating, if the government doesn’t reverse its decision.
