Health effects of portable classrooms
While there are numerous reported health problems related to new school construction, portable classrooms in particular are often the subject of health complaints from students and teachers. A comprehensive study of California portables confirmed the existence of indoor air pollution and excess noise. In Canada, an Ontario study on indoor school air quality noted that portable classrooms are especially problematic.
These studies should be of interest to Regina parents. Following the closure of Robert Usher, promised 'new construction' and 'renovation' to accommodate the displaced students amounted to more portable classrooms at Thom and Winston Knoll.
